What are the dimensions of Dumas Paris duck down duvets?

All duck down duvets, like goose down duvets, are available in standard sizes and can also be made to measure. To choose the perfect duvet size, we recommend leaving an overhang of 40 to 50 cm on each side of the bed. This allows the duvet to be tucked in, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the bedroom. What's more, an adequate overhang allows two people to cover themselves comfortably throughout the night. For example, a 90 cm single bed requires a 140x200 cm or 200x200 cm duvet. A 160 cm Queen size bed requires a 240x220 cm or 260x240 cm duvet. A 180 cm King size bed requires a duvet measuring 260X240 cm or 280x260 cm.

As the 280x260cm dimensions are not standard, the duck down duvet must be made to measure by the craftsmen at Maison Dumas. As well as customising the size to suit your preferences, it is also possible to add embroidered initials for a personal touch.

The Sticky or Royal 90% duvets are made and filled for this purpose, with a strong insulating filling.

Summer duvets

A duck down summer duvet is perfect for sleepers who regularly feel hot at night and want to sleep with a very light veil over their body. The Sticky and Royal 70% collections are available in the summer season to offer a good alternative for regions with a warm climate or for well-heated bedrooms with a room temperature above 20°C.

Temperate duvets

The Royal 70% tempered duck down duvet is ideal for in-between seasons and for sleepers who are neither too hot nor too cold at night. The feather percentage is slightly higher to reduce the insulating power of the duvet and adapt it to the temperature. Bedrooms with an ambient temperature of between 18 and 20°C can be fitted with a tempered duvet for maximum comfort. Maison Dumas also makes a duck down duvet to offer an alternative to traditional French bedding.

How do I wash a duck down duvet?

A duck down duvet should be washed at least once a year, in a large drum washing machine, at a temperature of up to 40 degrees. Drying must be done in a tumble dryer on repeated gentle cycles, until all traces of moisture have disappeared. It's also a good idea to put a couple of tennis balls in the tumble dryer, as they will hit the filling during the cycle and give it some lift. Apart from washing, it's important to shake the duvet every day, as this will plump up the filling and limit its deterioration over time. Regularly exposing the duvet to the sun in summer and the dry cold in winter is also beneficial, as it improves its breathability and eliminates dust mites.
