What size goose down duvet should I choose?

Maison Dumas makes standard and made-to-measure down duvets in its family-run workshops. To choose the ideal size for your duvet, we recommend leaving a 40 to 50 cm overhang on each side of the bed. This makes it easier to tuck the duvet in, giving an elegant, distinguished look on the bed. It also allows two people to cover themselves comfortably at night. The higher your mattress and slatted base, the greater the depth of the duvet.

For example, a 90 cm single bed requires a 140x200 cm or 200x200 cm duvet, while a 160 cm Queen size bed requires a 240x220 cm goose-down duvet or 260x240 cm, depending on the height of your mattress. For a 180 cm King size bed, a 260x240 cm goose-down duvet or 280x260 cm goose down duvet is required. If you would like your goose down duvet in a particular size, such as 280x260 cm, Maison Dumas will make yours to measure using its craftsmen. What's more, you can personalise the duvet by adding embroidered initials for a personal touch.

Which goose down duvet to choose according to the season?

The Maison Dumas goose down duvet collections are available in a range of comfort levels to suit every season. So you can cover your mattress and bed with a duvet adapted to seasonal temperatures and different sensitivities to heat.

Winter goose down duvets

Goose down has a high calorific value, ideal for those long, cold winter nights. Maison Dumas has designed all its goose down duvet collections for winter, to offer warm, enveloping comfort ideal for the coldest regions or bedrooms with little heating, with an ambient temperature of between 16° and 18°C.

Summer goose down duvets

In summer, the duvet must be highly breathable to provide light, discreet but enveloping comfort. Goose down, with its high loft potential, is perfectly suited to this season. The craftsmen at Maison Dumas have therefore adapted the Impérial and Moldavie collections, filling them more lightly, to offer a variation suited to summer. So you can enjoy the comfort of a goose-down duvet in a bedroom with a temperature above 20°C, or in a region with a warm climate, reproducing the adaptation of palmipeds during the hot season.

Temperate goose down duvets

The Imperial goose down duvet has a balanced filling to ensure excellent comfort in mid-season. This duvet is recommended for autumn or spring and for rooms with an ambient temperature of between 18° and 20°C.

Quel entretien pour sa couette duvet d’oie ?

Il est recommandé de laver sa couette en duvet d'oie au minimum une fois par an. Une machine avec un grand tambour s’impose, afin que ce dernier supporte le poids de la couette. Les cycles de lavage s’effectuent à une température pouvant atteindre 40 degrés maximum. Le séchage doit être effectué dans un sèche-linge en utilisant des cycles doux répétés jusqu'à ce que toute trace d'humidité ait disparu. Il est également conseillé d'ajouter deux balles de tennis dans le sèche-linge, car elles aident à tapoter le garnissage pendant le cycle, rétablissant ainsi son volume.

En dehors du lavage, il est essentiel de secouer votre couette quotidiennement pour rétablir le gonflant du garnissage et limiter son usure au fil du temps. De plus, l'exposition régulière de la couette au soleil estival et à l'air sec de l'hiver est bénéfique, car cela améliore sa respirabilité et contribue à éliminer les acariens.
