How to choose between synthetic and natural: is there a difference in comfort? What should I choose if I suffer from allergies?
Sleeping on or under natural or synthetic products does not provide the same level of welcome, comfort and warmth.
In general, products made from feathers and down have the major characteristic of being thermoregulating: providing heat adapted to different sleep cycles. These products are ideal for people who tend to perspire. There is no known allergy to feathers, but as the filling material is organic, dust mites are more likely to develop. That's why we've developed the GSD® solution, a patented concept that involves applying an anti-dust mite and anti-bacterial treated inner lining to curb the proliferation of pests.
Products filled with synthetic materials are generally considered to be hypoallergenic. Synthetic products are not thermoregulating. They will provide constant warmth but will follow the body's heat variations less closely. Synthetic products are easier to care for because the drying time is shorter than for a natural product.
What's the difference between duck and goose down, which is warmer and puffier?
Generally speaking, the development of down flakes on animals is due to the way they are reared and the length of time they are kept. There are many varieties between goose down and duck down. Duck down flakes are less developed than goose down flakes, due to the size of the animal. As a result, products made with goose down will be puffier and warmer.
Why choose a square pillow rather than a rectangular one?
The choice of pillow size is very important. Depending on the size of the pillow, you will experience very different levels of support and comfort. The rectangular American pillow does not provide the same support as the square European pillow. The European pillow will support your head and neck, but also the top of your shoulders. The rectangular pillow supports your head and neck only. The rectangular pillow is increasingly replacing our traditional bolsters. If you're looking for bolsters, we can make them to measure on request.
How do I choose the size of my duvet?
The size of the duvet should be adapted to the size of your mattress and the height of your base, so that you can tuck it in easily and have enough overhang on the sides to make your bed look cosy.
What's more, when you're sleeping with two people, you need to leave enough overhang so that everyone can wrap themselves up comfortably.
For a 90x190cm or 90x200Cm bed: choose a 140x200cm or 200x200cm duvet.
For a 140x190cm or 140x200cm bed: choose a 200x200cm or 240x220cm duvet
For a 160x190cm or 160x200cm bed: choose a 240x220cm or 260x240cm duvet
For a bed measuring 180x190cm or 180x200cm: choose a duvet measuring 260x240cm or 280x260cm

Health & Environment
Are feathers allergenic?
There are no allergies to feathers, but because they are an organic product, dust mites and dust tend to develop more quickly.
How can I protect myself from dust mites?
To prevent house dust mites, air your bedroom for 10 minutes every morning, as they cannot tolerate thermal shock and even less the sun's rays.
How comfortable is a child at different ages?
First of all, we would like to remind you that paediatricians advise against having a child sleep on a pillow under the age of 3. The right level of comfort for a child does not depend on their age, but on their height and weight. To help you choose the right pillow for each member of the family, we've put together a questionnaire (link) to help you choose the right product.
How do we guarantee our commitments?
Keeping our word is one of the fundamental values of the Dumas family. We work closely with suppliers who share our requirements and commitments. We visit them regularly.
